Scale & Corrosion Control
AquaHex Pulse Descaling Processor provides a chemical-free physical water treatment approach for industrial and commercial water systems. Using wide-range multi-frequency pulse technology, it helps influence mineral crystallization behavior, reduce scale deposition, support gradual removal of existing scale, and maintain cleaner pipe and heat-transfer surfaces. The result is a more stable water system with improved operating efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements.
Scale Formation & Its Impact on Energy Efficiency
Industrial water naturally contains dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium. When water is heated, concentrated, evaporated, or subjected to changes in pressure and CO₂ equilibrium, mineral salts may become supersaturated and begin to crystallize.
Calcium Carbonate Scale Formation
Ca²⁺ + 2HCO₃⁻ ⇌ CaCO₃(s) + CO₂ + H₂O
When water is heated, CO₂ is released, or local mineral concentration increases, the equilibrium may shift toward calcium carbonate precipitation. Scale commonly accumulates in pipes, boilers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, heating surfaces, and other process-water equipment. Over time, these deposits can restrict water flow, reduce heat-transfer efficiency, and increase maintenance requirements.
The Industrial Cost of Scal
Heat Transfer Loss
Scale has much lower thermal conductivity than metal and therefore acts as an insulating layer.
Higher Energy Consumption
More energy is required to maintain the same heating or cooling performance. Approximately 1 mm of scale buildup may increase energy consumption by about 8–16%.

Equipment & Maintenance Impact
Scale buildup may cause:
- Reduced pipe diameter
- Lower flow rate
- Increased pressure drop
- Equipment overheating
- More frequent cleaning
- Higher maintenance cost
- Shorter equipment service life
Multi-Mechanism Scale Control Technology
A Different Approach to Scale Control
Our Pulse Scaling Processor does not remove calcium and magnesium from the water. Instead, it conditions the mineral crystallization process so that calcium carbonate is encouraged to form as suspended crystals within the water rather than depositing directly on equipment surfaces.
Wide-Range Multi-Frequency Pulse • Lorentz Force • Hall Effect • Induced Crystallization
1. Wide-Range Multi-Frequeny Pulse Excitation
10Hz~40KHz Wide-Range Pulse Signals
Pulse Descaling Processor generates wide-range multi-frequency pulse signals, creating a dynamic electromagnetic field around the flowing water. The broad frequency range provides continuous physical conditioning under varying water-flow and operating conditions.Lorentz Force & Hall Effect
As dissolved ions and charged species move through the electromagnetic field, they are influenced by Lorentz force, altering their migration and collision behavior. At the same time, the interaction between moving charged species and the electromagnetic field produces a transverse electrical potential associated with the Hall Effect. These combined electromagnetic effects influence:
- Ion migration
- Ion collision behavior
- Mineral nucleation
- Crystal growth
- Mineral precipitation behavior
2. Induce Nucleation & Controlled Crsytallization
The combined pulse, Lorentz-force and Hall-effect interactions promote early nucleation of calcium carbonate within the bulk water. Instead of crystallizing directly on pipes, heat exchangers and heated surfaces, calcium carbonate preferentially forms suspended seed crystals in the circulating water. These suspended nuclei then provide alternative crystallization sites for dissolved minerals. Pulse Descaling Processor shifts mineral crystallization from equipment surfaces toward suspended seed crystals in the bulk water.
Existing Scale Reduction, Pipe Protection & Bilfouling Control
1. Existing Scale Reduction & Mineral Re-Equilibration
Calcium carbonate exists in a reversible equilibrium between dissolved minerals and solid scale. Pulse Descaling Processor does not chemically dissolve scale like acid cleaning. Instead, by shifting mineral crystallization toward suspended seed crystals in the bulk water, the system gradually modifies the mineral equilibrium and may create conditions favorable to dissolution and weakening at the scale-water interface.

Heat Exchanger & Pipe Descaling Applications

Control of Newly Formed Scale
The Pulse Descaling Processor promotes early nucleation and crystallization of dissolved minerals in the water rather than on pipes and heat-transfer surfaces. The resulting suspended crystals can be removed through filtration or blowdown.
Progressive Detachment of Existing Hard Scale
Continued operation may gradually weaken existing scale deposits. Water flow, turbulence, and thermal expansion can promote cracking and detachment, allowing loosened scale particles to be removed through filtration, blowdown, or system discharge.
2. Corrosion Control & Pipe Protection Helping Control Red Rust and Maintain More Stable Pipe Conditions
Iron corrosion produces loose red-rust deposits, such as Fe(OH)₃, FeOOH, and Fe₂O₃·nH₂O, which offer little protection and may accelerate corrosion. The Pulse Descaling Processor helps maintain cleaner pipe surfaces and may reduce red-rust accumulation. Under suitable water chemistry and operating conditions, it may also support the formation of more stable protective oxide layers, including magnetite (Fe₃O₄).
3. Microbial Growth, Biofilm & Algae Control
Scale and mineral deposits create rough surfaces where:
- Organic matter can accumulate
- Microorganisms can attach
- Biofilm can develop
- Algae can proliferate
Pulse Descaling Processor is not only a scale-control system. It helps improve the overall water environment by reducing mineral deposition, surface fouling and conditions favorable to corrosion and biofilm formation.
